THE GUIDE

Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.

Weaponcrafting is MapleStory Classic World's weapon craft. Mr. Thunder in Perion teaches it, but only after Silas Irons has taken you on for Smithing. It makes every Screw in the game, and every other craft needs them for shoes, gloves, wands, furniture and house stations. It also forges Warrior and Thief weapons from level 10 to 40, including every craftable claw. This MapleStory Classic Weaponcrafting guide lists all 35 recipes you can make in the live game with attack values, both ways to make Screws, Mr. Thunder's quests, the Grand Launch house station and two routes from craft level 1 to 8. For how the six crafts link up, see our crafting guide.

Quick summary

  • 35 Weaponcrafting recipes you can craft: 2 Screw recipes, 32 weapons and the Weaponcrafting Station added at Grand Launch. Crafting still stops at craft level 8, so 11 level 9–10 recipes stay locked (NiaMeowDB).
  • Screws cost no fee. 1 Bronze Ingot and 1 Iron Ingot make 10 Screws (craft level 1). At craft level 5, 10 Iron Hog's Metal Hooves make 3 Screws for 15 craft EXP (MapleStory Quest).
  • Mr. Thunder needs Silas Irons's Smithing test done first, plus 1 Bronze Ingot and 1 Iron Ingot (MapleStory Quest).
  • Screws are the most-used material in crafting: about 130 craftable recipes across all six crafts call for them, from shoes and wands to beds and house stations (NiaMeowDB).
  • Our math on the release EXP table: reaching 8 takes 46 weapon crafts plus 66 Screw crafts. That uses 226 Iron, 66 Bronze and 60 Mithril Ingots and 46 Processed Wood.

Unlock Weaponcrafting with Mr. Thunder

Mr. Thunder stands on Victoria Road in Perion at (1701, 1532) (MapleStory Quest; our Perion guide).

Quest Level Needs EXP (CoT2 → release) Mesos Reward
Mr. Thunder in Need of an Apprentice 10 Silas Irons in Need of an Apprentice done; 1 Bronze Ingot, 1 Iron Ingot 171 → 188 351 Unlocks Weaponcrafting
Mr. Thunder in Need of Help (weekly) 15 Weaponcrafting 2; 25 Axe Stumps, 10 Screws 705 → 669 497 Weaponcrafting Kit; "1 of 6 offered per weekly rotation"
A Weaponcrafter in My Own Right! 25 Weaponcrafting 5; 30 Iron Hogs, 1 Monkey Wrench 2,587 → 3,060 804 One-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalyst

Know the level gates

Craft level Craft EXP to next Character level needed Weapon EXP per craft
1 50 10 20
2 166 10 40
3 319 15 60
4 521 20 80
5 786 25 100
6 1,138 30 120
7 1,602 35 140
8 cap at launch 40 160

EXP to next and the character gate come from NiaMeowDB's crafting EXP table: reaching craft level 8 takes 4,582 craft EXP in total, and craft level N needs character level 5 × N. At the gate, the bar parks at 100% and extra EXP is discarded; after you level, one more craft ticks it over. The Weaponcrafting Kit from Mr. Thunder's weekly adds 10% crafting EXP for 15 minutes, and NiaMeowDB reports that the six masters' weekly quests share one weekly limit (player reported).

Make Screws two ways

Recipe Craft Lv Ingredients Makes Fee Craft EXP
Screw 1 1 Bronze Ingot, 1 Iron Ingot 10 0 3
Screw 5 10 Iron Hog's Metal Hooves 3 0 15

Iron Hogs are level 28. They spawn in Pig Park (20), Pig Park II (22) and Someone Else's House (12) (wiki). The wiki has no drop rate recorded for the hoof yet. Pig Park II also leads to Mushmom; see our Mushmom guide.

How many Screws other crafts use (NiaMeowDB): every Leatherworking shoe needs 15–24, Smithing gloves and boots need 6–24, Tailoring's Magician shoes 15–24, Arcforge's wands and staves 9–24, and Woodcrafting's bows and crossbows 6–24. Housing added more demand at Grand Launch: 20 for each house station, 40 for a wardrobe and 50 for the Rustic or Cherry Bed. See our Leatherworking, Tailoring and housing guides.

Learn every weapon recipe

Attack values and ingredients come from MapleStory Quest. "Wood" means Processed Wood, from Woodcrafting. "Leather" means Processed Leather, from Leatherworking. Every weapon recipe accepts the One-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalyst (wiki).

The Weaponcrafting Station (Grand Launch)

Recipe Craft Lv Ingredients Fee Craft EXP
Weaponcrafting Station 3 10 Iron Ingots, 10 Bronze Ingots, 5 Processed Wood, 20 Screws 100,000 60

It's a home item: place it in your house and you can do Weaponcrafting there instead of walking to Mr. Thunder in Perion. Every craft got a station at Grand Launch, and Smithing's Anvil takes the same ingredients (NiaMeowDB, henesys.gg). At 100,000 mesos for 60 EXP it's a convenience buy, not a leveling recipe.

Craft or buy?

Weapon Craft fee NPC shop price Our take
Steel Pipe 1,500 + 1 Iron Ingot 3,000 at Silver (Lith Harbor) Craft
Square Shovel 3,100 6,200 at Cutthroat Manny (Kerning City) Craft
Steel Titans 3,500 + 10 Leather 7,000 at Manny Craft if you have Leather
Pointed Shovel 3,900 11,700 at Manny Craft
Steel Igor 1,000 + Bronze Igor 14,100 at Manny Craft
Meba 5,500 + a Garnier (5,000 at Manny) 16,500 at Manny Craft
Steel, Mithril or Adamantium Guards 6,500 (+1,000 or 2,000 to upgrade) Not sold Craft or trade

Shop prices are NiaMeowDB's NPC shop inventories: Manny's 20-item stock in the Kerning City Self-Defence Item Store ends at the Meba, so no NPC sells a level 30+ claw. Upgrade recipes sell for more than their fee because they consume the base weapon. A Mithril Titans sells for 3,700 (MapleStory Quest).

Level Weaponcrafting from 1 to 8

Both routes are our math. Each assumes a recipe pays full EXP at higher craft levels, which isn't confirmed. Ingot EXP goes to Smithing, not here. We also assume your character meets each gate, so EXP past a level-up carries into the next level. If it doesn't, add about one craft per level.

Route A: craft and sell weapons

Craft Lv Weapon Count Screw crafts along the way
1 Steel Pipe 3 0
2 Scythe 4 3
3 Hammer 5 4
4 Pointed Shovel 7 9
5 Monkey Wrench 7 (keep 1 for Mr. Thunder) 10
6 Aluminum Baseball Bat 9 16
7 Halfmoon Zamadar 11 24

Totals: 46 weapons and 66 Screw crafts, using 226 Iron, 66 Bronze and 60 Mithril Ingots (1,760 ore through Smithing) and 46 Processed Wood. Fees come to 235,800 mesos. Selling the weapons to NPCs refunds that amount, less the 5,500 for the Monkey Wrench you keep.

Route B: hoof Screws from craft level 5

Use Route A to reach 5: 19 weapons, 56,300 mesos in fees (refunded when sold), 70 Iron and 16 Bronze Ingots, and 32 Wood. Then make hoof Screws: 48 crafts at level 5, 76 at 6 and 107 at 7. That's 2,310 Iron Hog's Metal Hooves, no fees, and about 700 Screws to sell to other crafters or use yourself. It costs no mesos, but you'll be farming Iron Hogs for a long time.

Planet-helper's 1–10 estimate is a net −54,800 mesos (our crafting guide).

For alts and returning players

  • One Screw-maker per account helps. Every shoe recipe in Leatherworking and Smithing needs Screws, so one Weaponcrafter can supply your alts through storage (our crafting guide).
  • Thief alts: craft Steel Titans at 15 and upgrade to Mithril or Gold. It's cheaper than Manny's 7,000 (NiaMeowDB).
  • Warrior alts: the Monkey Wrench and Janitor's Mop are level 25 weapons with +50 attack that Warriors, Bowmen and Thieves can all use (MapleStory Quest).
  • Returning from original MapleStory: Classic World makes Screws a crafted material instead of a drop-only one (MapleStory Quest).
  • Funding: see our mesos guide.

What changed for Weaponcrafting at Grand Launch

Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) left the 34 weapon and Screw recipes above unchanged and kept the craft level 8 cap. What changed, per Nexon's Grand Launch release notes, maintenance notes and henesys.gg's update notes:

  • Housing and house stations. The Weaponcrafting Station (above) lets you craft at home, and furniture from other crafts pushed Screw demand up.
  • Final Attack lasts 60 seconds for Warriors, which makes the crafted two-handed axes, blunts and polearms easier to run.
  • Trading rules: new accounts can't trade until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15, and the Debt System (October 22) blocks trading, shops and Hired Merchants for accounts caught in real-money trading. Plan Screw sales to friends with that in mind.
  • More Free Market rooms (12 to 20) and 40 channels make it easier to sell Screws and spare weapons.

Our patch notes tracker lists every update, and the MapleStory Classic hub gathers every guide and service for the game.

FAQ

Where do I learn Weaponcrafting in MapleStory Classic?

From Mr. Thunder in Perion, at level 10, after finishing Silas Irons's Smithing test. Bring 1 Bronze Ingot and 1 Iron Ingot (MapleStory Quest).

How do I make Screws?

Use 1 Bronze Ingot and 1 Iron Ingot for 10 Screws at craft level 1, or 10 Iron Hog's Metal Hooves for 3 Screws at craft level 5. Neither recipe has a fee (MapleStory Quest).

Can Weaponcrafting make bows?

No. Bows and crossbows come from Woodcrafting, from the War Bow and Crossbow at craft level 2 to the Vaulter 2000 and Heckler at 8; see our Woodcrafting guide.

What weapon does Mr. Thunder's level 25 quest need?

A crafted Monkey Wrench, plus 30 Iron Hogs. The reward is a One-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalyst (MapleStory Quest).

What is the max Weaponcrafting level?

Craft level 8, unchanged at Grand Launch. The level 9–10 recipes, like the Sai and The Nine Dragons, are in the data but can't be crafted yet (NiaMeowDB).

Is crafting a claw cheaper than buying one?

Yes, up to level 25: Steel Titans cost a 3,500 fee against 7,000 at Cutthroat Manny, and the Meba 5,500 plus a Garnier against 16,500. From level 30, Manny sells no claws, so the Guards line is craft or trade only (NiaMeowDB).
