THE GUIDE

Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.

From level 30 to 45, MapleStory Classic meso farming shifts from selling cheap etc items to selling crafting materials and ores to other players. This MapleStory Classic meso farming guide compares eight monsters from level 31 to 41 by value per 1,000 kills, shows which drops to sell to players, picks a map for each level, and adds the Grand Launch options such as Stumpy and the Excavation Site.

Quick summary

  • Lupin is the best item-value monster from 30 to 45, on paper. By our math it's worth about 28,000 mesos per 1,000 kills if you sell its Leather and Stiff Feathers to players. That's because those two items sell for 13 to 20 times their NPC price (maplestory-classic.com, MapleClassic Wiki).
  • At an NPC, every monster here pays about the same. Our NPC-only values run from about 14,000 to 18,000 mesos per 1,000 kills. Kill speed and spawn count decide your income more than the drop table.
  • The drop rates are reference data, not Classic data. NiaMeowDB shows OSMLib rates and warns they "may not represent MapleStory Classic World rates."
  • Pick maps by level. Kerning City Subway Jr. Wraith maps lead at 31–35, Florina Beach Lorang maps at 36–40, and Zombie Lupin maps or Hot Sand at 41–45 (NiaMeowDB, planet-helper).
  • Keep 30 of each etc item. Citizenship's weekly donation asks for 30 of one monster drop, and grades 5 to 7 ask for exactly these items.

Fire Boar is also the only monster here with a Diamond Ore drop. Diamond is one of the higher-priced ores, at 450 mesos on the Free Market (maplestory-classic.com).

Calculate item value per 1,000 kills

Our calculation: each drop's OSMLib rate times its price, added up per kill and multiplied by 1,000. The NPC column uses wiki NPC prices for everything. The Free Market column swaps in maplestory-classic.com's October 15 medians for ores, Leather and Stiff Feather, which are the items players pay more for. We leave out equipment, quest items, the Magic and Summoning Rocks, and meso coins.

Monster NPC only (ours) With Free Market sales (ours) Biggest gain from the Free Market
Lupin ~17,100 ~28,000 Leather (6,000) and Stiff Feather (5,200)
Zombie Lupin ~17,700 ~22,700 Stiff Feather (5,200)
Fire Boar ~14,000 ~21,300 Leather (5,000) and Iron Ore (1,500)
Cold Eye ~17,200 ~18,900 Iron Ore (1,500)
Jr. Wraith ~17,900 ~18,300 Opal and Adamantium Ore
Ligator ~16,300 ~18,100 Mithril and Aquamarine Ore
Lorang ~16,100 ~17,100 Garnet Ore
Curse Eye ~14,200 ~14,700 Topaz Ore

Three takeaways:

  1. Lupins pay for their bananas. Leather at 3% and Stiff Feather at 4% add more than the banana itself once you sell them to players.
  2. The NPC values are almost flat. Between 14,000 and 18,000 mesos per 1,000 kills, the main drop at 40–50% does most of the work. So the monster you kill fastest wins.
  3. Ores are lottery tickets here. At 0.2–0.3%, a single ore adds only about 1,000–1,500 mesos per 1,000 kills even at Free Market prices.

Leather and feathers sell because crafters need them. See our crafting guide. For listing tips, read our Free Market guide. maplestory-classic.com counted 1,847 Leather sales and 1,057 Stiff Feather sales in its data, so these aren't one-off trades.

Pick a map by level

Level Map Main monster Why Source
31–35 Line 2 <Area 1>, Kerning City Subway Jr. Wraith 2,151,429 max EXP/hr, NiaMeowDB's top pick NiaMeowDB
31–35 Monkey Swamp I Lupin planet-helper's top pick; 1,490 EXP per clear at 33. See our Kerning Swamp guide planet-helper
31–35 The Burnt Land V Fire Boar Best non-subway map; Leather and Diamond Ore. See our Burnt Land guide NiaMeowDB, planet-helper
36–40 A Look-Out Shed Around the Beach Lorang, Lupin 1,162,261 max EXP/hr; 1 portal to Florina Beach shop NiaMeowDB
36–40 Lorang Lorang Lorang 36 at once, 2,794 EXP a clear planet-helper
36–40 Another Path Cold Eye 1,955 EXP a clear planet-helper
41–45 Monkey Swamp III Zombie Lupin 1,138,571 max EXP/hr; Stiff Feathers NiaMeowDB
41–45 Tree Dungeon, Monkey Forest II Zombie Lupin Fewer players know it. See our Monkey Forest guide NiaMeowDB, planet-helper
41–45 Hot Sand Tortie planet-helper's top 41–45 pick; see our Florina Beach guide planet-helper
43–47 Excavation Site Remains (new at Grand Launch) Skeledog (Lv 44) Skeledogs drop Cape Accuracy Intermediate scrolls (NiaMeowDB). See our Excavation Site guide henesys.gg, NiaMeowDB

For mesos, the Look-Out Shed is the standout. It mixes Lorang with Lupin, and Lupin is the top Free Market monster in our table. The subway's Jr. Wraith maps are covered map by map in our Kerning Subway guide. For more EXP-focused picks, see our training guide.

Add Stumpy to a 35+ farming loop

Grand Launch added Stumpy, a level 35 field boss in Parched Land past East Rocky Mountain, at the end of Doctor Winston's Truth of the Rumor chain (henesys.gg). NiaMeowDB records Earring DEX, LUK and STR Intermediate scrolls in its drops, and scrolls sell well to players. Field boss respawns are more randomized since v1.0.0 (Nexon), so check the map when you pass rather than waiting on a timer. Our Stumpy guide has the route and the quest chain.

Line 2 <Area 1> has 97 spawn points (NiaMeowDB), but planet-helper counts only 18 monsters up at once. Spawn-point counts overstate what you'll actually see.

Stockpile for citizenship donations

The citizenship board offers one donation a week. Each asks for 30 of one monster drop and pays 20 Blue Potions plus EXP, mesos and contribution. Our citizenship guide lists the items by grade, and this level band covers grades 5 to 7:

Grade Henesys items Kerning City items Contribution
5 Ligator Skin, Curse Eye Tail Ligator Skin, Fire Boar's Tooth, Tablecloth 1,400
6 Lorang Claw Lupin's Banana 1,575
7 Cold Eye Tail Cold Eye Tail 1,750

Thirty Lupin's Bananas are worth 1,110 mesos at an NPC (30 × 37, wiki prices). As a donation, they pay contribution toward a house and town-shop unlocks. That's a better use for most players. Keep 30 of each item until you see what the board asks for.

Compare farming plans

Plan Best for Our estimated value per 1,000 kills Drawback
Lupins, sell Leather and feathers to players Steady mesos from 33 up ~28,000 Lupins throw bananas from range (NiaMeowDB)
Jr. Wraith in the subway Fast EXP with fair NPC value ~18,000 Crowded; see our bot-free training guide
Fire Boar in Perion Warriors and bowmen; Diamond Ore ~21,000 8 portals to potions (NiaMeowDB)
Lorang at Florina Beach 36–40, close to a shop ~17,000 Lower item value
Zombie Lupin 41–45 with weak gear ~23,000 Holy matters; magicians without Holy are slower

From 45, our 45–50 meso farming guide takes over with Drakes, Torties and Wraiths. They are worth roughly 20,000 to 41,000 mesos per 1,000 kills at NPC prices by the same method.

Alts and returning players

  • Farm on your highest character. A main at 45–50 earns more per hour than an alt at 30, by the values in our two farming guides. Our mesos guide covers spending and saving.
  • Returning players: don't price from memory. Crafters are the buyers for Leather and ores, so Classic World prices follow crafting demand. Check current listings before you sell.
  • Citizenship is account-wide (NiaMeowDB). Alts farming these drops can stock donations for the same town.
  • Coming up from the 20s? Our 10–30 meso farming guide covers the band before this one.

What changed for 30–45 meso farming at Grand Launch

Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) left the drop tables above alone. These changes from Nexon's maintenance notes and release notes still matter for this band:

Change Effect on levels 30–45
Stumpy (Lv 35) and the Excavation Site added New scroll sources: Stumpy's earring scrolls and Skeledog's cape scrolls
The Murky Swamp II added One more Ligator map near Kerning City
Field boss respawns randomized Stumpy and Mushmom can't be farmed on a fixed timer
Potion drop buff stops at Lv 30 Monsters in this band don't get it, so budget potions as before
New-account trade lock and the Debt System (October 22) New accounts can't sell to players until 24 hours after a character reaches Lv 15; accounts tied to real-money trading can't trade until their debt is repaid

Crafting still stops at craft level 8, so demand for Leather, feathers and ores still comes from levels 1–8 recipes. From October 28 to November 18 every monster here can also drop Halloween Candies (Nexon). The October 15 medians above are from the Founder's Access market; check NiaMeowDB's Free Market tracker for current prices. The MapleStory Classic hub lists every guide for the game.

FAQ

What's the best meso farming monster from level 30 to 45 in MapleStory Classic? Lupin, by our math: about 28,000 mesos per 1,000 kills when you sell its Leather and Stiff Feathers on the Free Market. At NPC prices, the eight monsters we compared are all within about 14,000 to 18,000.

Are these drop rates official? No. They're OSMLib reference rates shown by NiaMeowDB, which warns they "may not represent MapleStory Classic World rates."

Should I sell ores to an NPC? Usually no. Most ores sold for several times their NPC price on October 15 (maplestory-classic.com). Orihalcon and Silver show the smallest gap.

Where do I farm Lupins? Monkey Swamp I (28 Lupin spawn points) and A Look-Out Shed Around the Beach (27), according to NiaMeowDB.

Why are Leather and Stiff Feathers worth so much? Crafters buy them. Leather sold for a 200-meso median and Stiff Feather for 129, against an NPC price of 10 each (maplestory-classic.com, wiki).

Can I farm Forgotten Hollow at 41? Not yet. Nexon's Grand Launch notes say it opens in November, and henesys.gg lists November 18. See our Forgotten Hollow guide.

Do monsters drop mesos too? Yes, but no source publishes Classic World meso drop amounts, so our values leave them out.
