The Burnt Land and Dangerous Valley are Perion's training chain east of town: Fire Boars from the low 30s, Copper Drakes in the 40s and Red Drakes at 60. This MapleStory Classic Burnt Land guide maps all 11 maps on the route, the monsters and their weaknesses, which jobs should train where, the Drake Skull and Dragon Skin quests, and how the chain compares with the Excavation Site that Grand Launch added next door.
Quick summary
- Route: Perion → Deep Valley I. From there, one branch goes to Dangerous Valley and Dangerous Valley II. The other goes to Deep Valley II, then The Burnt Land I–V or Deep Valley III and the Perion Dungeon Entrance (MapleStory Quest).
- Burnt Land V is the Fire Boar map for levels 31–35. It has 26 Fire Boar and 12 Lupin spawns. NiaMeowDB rates it at about 1.03 million max EXP/hr, its best non-subway pick for the bracket.
- Dangerous Valley (early 40s) mixes 21 Fire Boars with 13 Copper Drakes. Both are weak to ice, which makes it an Ice/Lightning Wizard map (NiaMeowDB).
- Dangerous Valley II has 17 Red Drake spawns at level 60. It's the only map where NiaMeowDB lists Red Drakes, and the only Victoria Island map built around a level 60 monster.
- Drake Skull and Dragon Skin feed 9 quests, including Jane's challenges, Luke's Wish to Travel and A Craftsman's Touch (MapleStory Quest).
- Grand Launch made drakes sturdier: Copper Drakes and Red Drakes now need more damage per hit before they stagger, a fix in Nexon's v1.0.0 maintenance notes.

- Dangerous Valley II: about 777 clears to finish level 65.
Know the monsters

Touch damage, per hit (NiaMeowDB):
- Fire Boar: 197–269
- Copper Drake: 288–392
- Red Drake: 336–458
Copper Drakes and Red Drakes stay on their floor, while Fire Boars jump between floors. For more on hit rates, see our accuracy guide, and for every other monster's stats our monster list.
Stagger fix at Grand Launch: Nexon's v1.0.0 maintenance notes say the minimum damage needed to stagger Copper Drakes, Drakes and Red Drakes "was unintentionally set too low" and was corrected. In practice, weak hits no longer interrupt a drake's walk or attack, so a low-damage character takes more touch damage on Dangerous Valley than Founder's Access players remember. Plan for the 288–458 touch damage above rather than relying on knockback.
Public Release changes (MapleStory Quest):
- Fire Boar EXP went from 62 to 60, Copper Drake from 117 to 107, and Red Drake from 213 to 211.
- Each one gained 1 avoid.

How much Dragon Skin? (our math) One run of every Dragon Skin quest needs 90. At the 5% Red Drake reference rate, that's about 1,800 kills. At the 3% Copper Drake rate, it's about 3,000. Dragon Skin also goes into many shoe and glove recipes (MapleStory Quest), so it's worth keeping.
Rare rolls (OSMLib reference, NiaMeowDB):
- Diamond Ore: 0.1% from Fire Boar, 0.5% from Red Drake.
- Orihalcon Ore: 0.7% from Red Drake.
- Wolbi Throwing Stars: 0.008% from Fire Boar.
- Steely Throwing Knives: 0.004% from Red Drake.
Fire Boars, Copper Drakes and Drakes also have recorded earring scroll drops; our earrings guide lists them. Meso value per kill is in our level 30–45 and 50–75 meso guides.
Choose between Perion and other maps
| Level | Perion pick | Alternative | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31–35 | The Burnt Land V | Kerning subway Line 2, Monkey Swamp I | planet-helper ranks Monkey Swamp I higher (22 at once) |
| 40–45 | Dangerous Valley | Monkey Forest II | NiaMeowDB: a little more EXP/hr than Monkey Forest II |
| 55–60 | — | Golem's Temple, Sleepy Dungeon V | See our Golem's Temple guide |
| 60–65 | Dangerous Valley II | 50s maps | planet-helper: the 50s maps still give more EXP |
Avoid these mistakes
- Using fire on Fire Boars or drakes. Both are fire strong.
- Going to Dangerous Valley II too early. You need 136 accuracy at 55 to never miss a Red Drake.
- Vendoring Drake Skulls and Dragon Skin. Nine quests want them.
- Walking Burnt Land V for potions. It's 8 portals to the shop, so carry enough.
- Skipping Lupins on Burnt Land IV and V. At 75 EXP each, they add about a third of the EXP per clear.
If you're making alts or coming back
- Warrior and bowman alts: Burnt Land V carries you from 31 to 35 without the Kerning subway crowds.
- Ice/Lightning Wizards: Dangerous Valley, then Dangerous Valley II, covers your 40s and early 60s.
- Returning players: Fire Boar and drake EXP dropped slightly in the Public Release, so recheck old leveling charts.
- Warriors and Pages: Grand Launch's Iron Body buff (+20% to +40% Weapon Def., up from +5% to +25%) and Final Attack's 60-second window make Dangerous Valley's touch damage easier to absorb; our blunt weapons guide covers the Page side.
- Under 30: monsters between levels 10 and 30, such as Dark Axe Stumps and Wild Boars, drop potions more often since Grand Launch (Nexon), which helps the Deep Valley maps pay for themselves.

What changed in Perion's training maps at Grand Launch
Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) didn't change the spawns or monster stats in the tables above. What changed around them, from Nexon's Grand Launch release notes and maintenance notes:
| Change | What it means here |
|---|---|
| Excavation Site added off the East Domain of Perion | A second Perion chain: Ghost Stumps and Masks in the 20s, Skeledogs to Commander Skeletons from 44 to 73 |
| Drake stagger threshold corrected | Copper and Red Drakes shrug off weak hits |
| Potion drops raised for monsters level 10–30 | Deep Valley and the Dungeon Entrance drop more potions |
| Field boss respawns randomized | Stumpy, the new level 35 field boss in Parched Land past East Rocky Mountain, has no fixed timer |
| Orange Slimes in Perion town until November 18 | Halloween event monsters, not a training map |
Orbis and El Nath are still closed, so Dangerous Valley II stays the highest-level field on this side of Victoria Island. The MapleStory Classic hub collects every guide for the game.
Frequently asked questions
Where is The Burnt Land in MapleStory Classic? East of Perion. Go Perion → Deep Valley I → Deep Valley II → The Burnt Land I, then on through V (MapleStory Quest).
What level is Burnt Land V for? About 31–35. Fire Boars are level 32, and NiaMeowDB lists it for that bracket.
Is Dangerous Valley good for Ice/Lightning Wizards? Yes. Fire Boars and Copper Drakes are both weak to ice. NiaMeowDB calls it a strong I/L map in the early 40s.
Where do you train after 60 on Victoria Island? Dangerous Valley II, with 17 Red Drake spawns at level 60. planet-helper notes the 50s maps still give more EXP.
What drops Dragon Skin? Copper Drakes (3%) and Red Drakes (5%), going by OSMLib reference rates (NiaMeowDB).
Is the Excavation Site better than The Burnt Land? At 31–36, no: the Excavation Site has no monsters between level 24 and 44. From 44 its Remains maps compete with Dangerous Valley; compare them in our Excavation Site guide.
